Mixed results for WA bowlers at Australian Open: Monday, April 3, 2006

Western Australian pair Peter Cullen and Colin Harding have advanced to the second round of the Australian Open bowls tournament in Melbourne today (3/4).

The combination beat fellow Western Australians Brenton Scott and Wayne Butler 1-10, 7-6, 2-0 at the Darebin International Sports Centre.

The news wasn’t good for other Western Australians in the opening session of play with Gary Caffell and John Goddard losing to Simon Cox and Christopher Baker of NSW 2-12, 8-7, 2-0.

And in the women’s singles, Mosman Park bowler Pam Haynes made an early exit from the event after Mary Lim of Queensland won 10-7, 2-9 and 2-1 in a tie-breaker.
