Armitage & Murphy out of Aussie Open pairs: Wednesday, April 5, 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medallists Lynsey Armitage and Karen Murphy have been knocked out of the pairs at the Australian Open. The duo were beaten by fellow Australian Bowls Squad members Katrina Wright and Maria Rigby in straight sets 9-3, 5-5 at the Darebin International Sports Centre in Melbourne today (5/4). Rigby won the Australian Open pairs in 2005 with Arleen Jeffery. Wright and Rigby will now play NSW bowler Sharyn Renshaw and South African ace Lorna Trigwell in a semi-final on Friday morning at 8.00am. The other semi-final will see Queensland’s Margaret Fairburn and Helen Bosisto playing fellow Queenslanders Julie Keegan and Brenda Thompson.
