Media release: 2nd January 2008 BUS IT TO THE AO Travelling to the ABN AMRO Australian Open has never been easier or more affordable. For the first time in the event's four year history, Bowls Australia and Grenda Corporation have inked a unique deal, which will allow bowling enthusiasts to travel to the Darebin International Sports Centre in style, while also doubling as a much needed fundraiser for your club. Under the agreement struck, spectators from across Victoria will be transported to and from the ABN AMRO Australian Open 2008 in luxurious Grenda's coaches, with the company picking you up and dropping you off at your club's door. The deal, however, has been struck with spectators and bowling clubs in mind. Under the packages arranged, costs have been based on a minimum of 30 people, so pricing and numbers are at the discretion of individual clubs. As a result, each and every dollar which is raised above the initial outlay, which has already been heavily discounted, goes directly into your club's coffers. "It's a great deal," Bowls Australia spokesman Des Ryan said. "Bowls Australia is offering top-line transportation for next to nothing to ensure bowls fans have every opportunity to see the best bowlers compete in the biggest event on our bowls calendar. "For example, the pricing has been capped based on 30 people, so if you sell 45 tickets, the profit made from the 15 extra tickets you have sold goes directly to your club. "The ABN AMRO Australian Open is the biggest bowls event in the nation, so it will be great to have a huge crowd on hand in Darebin next month." FACTS BOX
