Volunteers Bowls Australia is again seeking volunteers for the Australian Open in 2009. This is a great opportunity to be a part of the premier event on the Bowls Australia events calendar. Volunteers are required to complete roles including ushers and directional staff, ticket sellers, transport and car park attendants, bowls security / access marshalls and scoreboard attendants. Volunteers do not require any experience in lawn bowls or in volunteering, just an enthusiasm to be involved. Volunteers will be required at least five of the seven days of the event, and will work shifts of between four and seven hours. Each volunteer will be given a t-shirt, hat and accreditation lanyard, to wear throughout the event and to keep at the end of the event.
Technical Officials People with bowls experience / qualifications can apply to be technical officials at the event. Technical officials are required to be markers on each rink for singles or umpires to oversee each green for all matches. Technical officials will be required each day of the event, with the greatest demand on Sunday and Monday for the singles early rounds. Each technical official will be provided with an event t-shirt, hat and lanyard to wear throughout the event and keep at the end. The accreditation lanyard will give access to the venue for free every day.
